Have you been wondering if watercolor is for you, but you don’t want to spend weeks trying to find out? Or perhaps it’s been a while since you pulled out your watercolor paints, and you need a little “taste” of the medium before jumping back in. Either way, this half-day workshop is for you!

Local artist Kelly Reese is passionate about demystifying watercolor supplies and techniques and helping students unlock the creative potential of this popular medium.

In this fun, introductory workshop, Kelly will teach you how to break down the process of painting a loose watercolor ocean landscape. You’ll begin by learning how to sketch the composition and value of a reference photo. Then, you’ll practice some basic watercolor techniques. Finally, you’ll use your new understanding of composition, value, and techniques to complete a beautiful, frame-worthy picture.

No previous drawing or painting experience necessary!

Block printing is an amazing and versatile medium that’s great for beginners and experienced artists alike. The designs can be used to create pretty much anything, from paper arts, like wall prints, personal journals, and cards, to wearable fashions and home décor. If you can dream it, you can make it with this technique! Join artist and printmaker, Kelly Reese, as she shows you how to get started on this fun and foolproof craft.

Kelly will demonstrate how to design and carve a basic relief block print, as well as how to roll ink and regulate printing pressure. After practicing techniques, you’ll design, carve, and print a set of matching block printed cards. You’ll go home with a useful gift for yourself or a friend and the knowledge and supplies to make more block prints.

No drawing skills required. All you need is a desire to try something new—and have a great time!

Your carved block, tools (lino cutters, brayer, and ink), and extra cards are yours to keep so you can continue practicing your new skills!

Join me for a fun and educational open art night. I’ll provide lots of different types of watercolor paint, paper, and supplies to try out. We’ll work on a small project, swatching, or whatever you want to create!

Feel free to bring any supplies you have that you want to work with, or get help with. Supplies aren’t required. You can take home whatever you paint.
